Artists biography

Billy is an award winning 15 year old Anglo-Brazilian classical / flamenco fingerstyle guitarist, inspired by the likes of Rodrigo y Gabriela, Tommy Emmanuel and Sungha Jung.

Billy’s online videos have have been seen all over the world, his first classical cover of Bohemian Rhapsody was shared by rock legends Queen’s official Facebook page and altogether his videos have attracted around 20,000,000 views.

In early 2016, at the age of just 14, Billy successfully auditioned for Guitar Star - a guitar based talent show open to all ages and genres on Sky Arts TV in the UK.

Billy stunned audiences with some extraordinary performances - for judges andmentors including Jazz legend George Benson, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, and David Bowie’s long time producer Tony Visconti - who described him as ‘a little boy genius’.

Billy played arrangements of pieces by artists including Queen, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Tommy Emmanuel and The Eagles - and despite tough competition from rock, blues and jazz guitarists successfully reached the final 3 of the competition. 

Along the way he had the opportunity to perform at iconic venues in London, including the legendary Abbey Road Studio number 2 of Beatles fame.

Billy’s first audition video - performing an arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody, has been an internet sensation, with over 10 million views to date.

Since the show, Billy has recorded 5 of the tracks he used, and released ‘Escape From Reality’ - a 5 track CD. Available from iTunes or mail order from his website.

He also performed on the same stage as Midge Ure and Billy Bragg at Towersey Festival, and was special guest of comedian Rory Bremner at 2 sold out comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

Looking to the future, Billy hopes to build on his success and perform at larger festivals in 2017. He continues to study classical guitar at prestgious Purcell School of Music in London.
